...gry - A Riddle
For those of you who haven't yet been tormented by this riddle, that has done the email rounds on several occasions, below is one of the many versions.
Think of words ending in “gry”. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word. The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is.
Now I haven't really got the time nor inclination to answer in full, unfortunately there is no definitive answer as it depends on which version is presented. One thing is for sure, there are actually more than three words ending in gry so, as it's a riddle, we can forgive this oversight, and look for other possible answers, and there are two:
- Language - as the riddle asks for the third word in "the English language."
- What - as the riddle states "What is the third word" - note there's no question mark.
